Abstract

Technological developments have driven the transformation of traditional agriculture into modern, more efficient, precise, and sustainable agriculture through the implementation of robotic systems and the integration of the Internet of Things (IoT). However, elementary school students, as community service partners, still have limited understanding of the application of technology, particularly robotics, in agriculture. The conceptual nature of informatics learning prevents students from gaining learning experiences that connect algorithmic concepts with their real-life applications. Consequently, technological literacy and interest in modern agriculture remain relatively low. This community service activity aims to improve students' understanding of modern agricultural robotic systems, foster interest in technology and agriculture, and develop computational thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills. The method used is an interactive, participatory, and learning-by-doing approach, which includes three stages: delivering material through interactive lectures, demonstrations of miniature modern agricultural and robotic systems, and practice using coding worksheets and creating mock-ups of agricultural tools and animal life cycles. The results of the activity indicate that participants are able to recognize the basic concepts of robotic technology and understand its relationship to modern agricultural applications. Based on the results of discussions and observations during the activity, participants began to be able to explain the function of robots as tools to assist human work and provide examples of the application of robotics in agriculture, such as automatic watering systems and crop sorting processes. During the demonstration activity, participants were able to identify the functions of sensors, robotic arms, and automation concepts through direct observation of a miniature modern farm. Furthermore, through simple coding practices, assembly, and mock-up creation, participants demonstrated their ability to follow instructions, organize work steps systematically, work in groups, and produce simple designs based on agricultural technology concepts. Overall, this activity succeeded in increasing participants' initial understanding of agricultural robotic technology while fostering interest, creativity, and problem-solving skills in technology-based learning.
