Authorship Criteria

Jurnal Pengabdian Pendidikan Masyarakat establishes authorship requirements based on the principles of integrity and publication ethics. The inclusion of an individual's name as an author must be based on substantial scientific and intellectual contributions to the conduct of research or community service activities, as well as the preparation of the manuscript. Administrative involvement, financial support, or technical assistance alone does not constitute sufficient grounds for authorship.

1.  Authorship Criteria

Every individual listed as an author in an article must meet all four of the following criteria:

a.   Substantial Scientific Contribution. Make a meaningful contribution to the conception or formulation of ideas, the design of activities or research, data collection, and the analysis and interpretation of data that form the basis of the manuscript.

b.   Involvement in Manuscript Preparation. Actively participate in drafting the article or critically reviewing and revising its important intellectual content.

c.   Approval of the Final Manuscript. Read, review, and approve the final version of the manuscript before it is submitted for publication.

d.   Accountability for the Integrity of the Work. Agree to be accountable for the aspects of the work to which they have contributed and cooperate in ensuring that any issues concerning the accuracy, validity, or integrity of the article are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Note: Individuals whose contributions are limited to providing funding, collecting data without further intellectual involvement, providing laboratory facilities, or performing general language and grammatical editing do not meet the authorship criteria. Such contributions may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, depending on the nature of the contribution and with the consent of the individuals concerned.

2.    Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author and Determination of Author Order

The corresponding author is responsible for coordinating communication between the journal and all co-authors throughout the manuscript submission, peer-review, and publication processes, as well as after the article has been published. In fulfilling this role, the corresponding author has the following responsibilities:

a.    Verifying Authorship Eligibility. Ensure that all individuals listed as authors meet the four authorship criteria established by the journal.

b.    Ensuring Transparency in Authorship Attribution. Ensure that no individual who qualifies for authorship is omitted from the article (ghost authorship in the context of the omission of eligible authors), and that no individual who has not made a contribution meeting the authorship criteria is included as an author (gift authorship or guest authorship).

c.     Determining Author Order Fairly. Ensure that the order of authors is determined by mutual agreement, taking into account the extent of each individual's scientific and intellectual contributions. Author order must not be determined solely on the basis of position, seniority, academic degree, or institutional status.

d.    Determining the Roles of the First Author and Corresponding Author. The first author is generally the individual who has made the primary contribution to the implementation of the activities and the preparation of the manuscript, as agreed upon by all authors. Meanwhile, the corresponding author is responsible for managing communication with the editor and journal management, ensuring the completeness of submission documents, informing all authors about the editorial process, and coordinating the preparation of responses to editorial feedback and peer-review comments.

e.    Ensuring Approval by All Authors. Ensure that every author has read, reviewed, and approved the final version of the manuscript before it is submitted for publication.

All authors are responsible for upholding the principles of honesty, transparency, and scientific integrity at every stage of the publication process. Authorship attribution and author order must be determined transparently, based on verifiable contributions and mutual agreement among all parties involved.
