Jurnal Muara Olahraga

1. General Information

Before preparing and submitting a manuscript, authors are encouraged to carefully read and follow the author guidelines of Jurnal Muara Olahraga. Authors are strongly discouraged from withdrawing manuscripts after submission, particularly once the manuscript has entered the peer-review, copyediting, or layout process, as the editorial team and reviewers have invested considerable time and resources in the publication process.

Jurnal Muara Olahraga is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Universitas Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo, Indonesia. Established in 2018, the journal is published twice a year, in July and December.

The journal aims to disseminate research findings, theoretical perspectives, and conceptual studies that contribute to the advancement of physical education and sports sciences.

2. Scope of the Journal

Jurnal Muara Olahraga welcomes original research articles and scholarly contributions in the following areas:

Sport Education: Physical education, teaching and learning strategies, curriculum development, educational assessment, and innovations in sports education.
Sports Coaching: Coaching methods, athletic performance, training science, talent identification, and athlete development.
Sport Tourism: Sports tourism management, recreational sports, sports events, and the development of sport tourism destinations.
Traditional Sports: Traditional games, cultural heritage in sports, preservation of traditional sporting practices, and innovations in traditional sports.

Manuscripts must be relevant to the journal's scope and demonstrate scientific rigor, originality, and a clear contribution to the development of knowledge.

3. Types of Manuscripts

Jurnal Muara Olahraga accepts the following types of manuscripts:

Research Articles: Original empirical studies presenting research findings supported by appropriate research designs, data collection procedures, and analytical methods.
Review Articles: Critical and systematic evaluations of existing literature that identify research trends, knowledge gaps, theoretical developments, and directions for future research.
Conceptual Articles: Scholarly papers presenting theoretical frameworks, critical analyses, or innovative concepts relevant to physical education and sports.

All submissions are subject to editorial screening and peer review.

4. General Manuscript Requirements

Authors must comply with the following requirements:

The manuscript must be original and must not have been published previously or be under consideration by another journal.
Manuscripts should be written in English or Indonesian, subject to the journal's applicable language policy.
Manuscripts must be prepared using the official Jurnal Muara Olahraga article template.
The recommended manuscript length is 3,000–5,000 words, including references, tables, and figure captions, unless otherwise specified by the journal.
Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word format on A4-sized paper.
The manuscript must be free from plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, and other forms of academic misconduct.
All authors must approve the submitted manuscript and agree to its submission to Jurnal Muara Olahraga.
Authors must disclose any relevant conflicts of interest and funding sources.
Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical standards and obtain ethical approval and informed consent where required.
Manuscripts must follow the structure and formatting requirements described in these guidelines.

5. Manuscript Structure and Formatting

The manuscript should generally contain the following sections:

Author Names and Affiliations
Abstract
Keywords
Introduction
Methods
Results and Discussion
Conclusion
Acknowledgments (if applicable)
References

The exact structure may vary depending on the type of manuscript. Authors should ensure that each section is clear, logically organized, and consistent with the journal template.

6. Guidelines for the Manuscript Body

A. Title

The title must be concise, informative, and representative of the manuscript's main content. It should clearly identify the principal research topic and avoid unnecessary abbreviations. A title of no more than 20 words is recommended.

B. Author Names and Affiliations

All contributing authors must be listed in the correct order. Each author's institutional affiliation should be provided, including the institution name, city, and country. The corresponding author's email address must also be included.

Authors must meet accepted authorship criteria by making substantial scholarly contributions to the research, participating in drafting or critically revising the manuscript, approving the final version, and accepting accountability for the integrity of the work.

C. Abstract

The abstract should not exceed 200 words and should summarize the following elements:

Research objectives or purpose.
Research methods and design.
Principal results or findings.
Main conclusions and implications.

The abstract should be written as a single, coherent paragraph without citations, tables, or figures.

D. Keywords

Authors should provide 3–6 keywords or phrases that represent the main concepts of the manuscript. Keywords should be specific, relevant to the research topic, and arranged alphabetically.

E. Introduction

The introduction should establish the research context and explain the significance of the study. It should include the following elements:

General background and research context.
Relevant literature review and state of the art.
Identification of research gaps or unresolved problems.
Research questions, objectives, and hypotheses where applicable.
The novelty and expected contribution of the study.

The introduction should conclude with a clear statement of the research objective.

F. Methods

The methods section should provide sufficient information to allow readers to understand and evaluate the research process. Depending on the study, it should include:

Research design and approach.
Research participants, population, or sample.
Research instruments and measurement procedures.
Data collection procedures.
Data analysis techniques.
Ethical considerations, where applicable.

The methods must be described clearly and accurately, with appropriate references for established procedures.

G. Results and Discussion

The results and discussion section should present the principal findings in a logical and coherent sequence.

Authors should:

Present findings directly relevant to the research objectives.
Use tables and figures where appropriate.
Avoid repeating all numerical information already presented in tables or figures.
Interpret the findings in relation to previous studies and relevant theories.
Explain the scientific, practical, or educational implications of the findings.
Discuss unexpected results and study limitations where relevant.
Identify unresolved questions and potential directions for future research.

The discussion should go beyond describing results and explain their significance for physical education and sports.

H. Conclusion

The conclusion should directly address the research objectives and summarize the principal findings and contributions. It should not merely repeat the results and discussion.

Authors may also present practical recommendations, study limitations, and suggestions for future research where appropriate.

I. Acknowledgments

Authors may acknowledge research funding agencies, institutions, research assistants, participants, or other individuals who contributed to the study but do not meet the authorship criteria.

Funding sources and grant numbers should be stated accurately where applicable.

J. References

All sources cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list, and every reference listed must be cited in the text.

Authors are encouraged to prioritize primary sources, particularly articles published in reputable scientific journals. References should be relevant, current, and appropriate to the research topic.

Where applicable, authors are encouraged to use literature published within the last ten years while retaining older references that are fundamental to the theoretical framework or research methodology.

7. Citation and Reference Style

Jurnal Muara Olahraga recommends the use of APA (American Psychological Association), 7th edition, subject to the journal's official reference-style policy.

Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to ensure consistency and accuracy.

8. Tables and Figures

Tables

Tables must be numbered consecutively and provided with concise, descriptive titles. They should be placed near the relevant discussion in the manuscript. All abbreviations, symbols, and statistical notations must be explained where necessary.

Figures

Figures, charts, diagrams, photographs, and other illustrations must be clear, legible, and numbered consecutively. Each figure must have an informative caption and be referred to in the manuscript text. Authors are responsible for ensuring that they have permission to reproduce copyrighted material where necessary.

9. Research Ethics and Publication Integrity

Jurnal Muara Olahraga is committed to maintaining academic integrity and responsible publication practices.

Authors must ensure that:

The manuscript presents original work and appropriately acknowledges all sources.
Research data are accurate and have not been fabricated or falsified.
All listed authors have made legitimate contributions to the study.
Conflicts of interest and funding sources are disclosed.
Ethical approval and informed consent are obtained when required.
Any use of previously published material complies with applicable copyright requirements.
The manuscript is not simultaneously submitted to another journal.

Manuscripts suspected of plagiarism or other forms of publication misconduct may be rejected or handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

10. Online Submission Guidelines

Manuscripts must be submitted through the official online submission system of Jurnal Muara Olahraga.

Authors should follow these steps:

Start a New Submission: Select the appropriate journal section and complete the submission checklist.
Upload the Manuscript: Upload the manuscript in Microsoft Word format using the journal template.

11. Editorial Process

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their relevance to the journal's scope, compliance with author guidelines, originality, and basic scholarly quality.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent for peer review. Editorial decisions may include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection. The final decision rests with the journal's editorial team based on the review reports and the manuscript's overall quality.
