Publication Ethics

 

Journal of Educational Innovation and Information Technology (JIPTI) is a scientific research journal managed by the department of information technology education, Universitas Muhammdiyah Muara Bungo, Indonesia, first published in January 2020 in the online version and the print version published in 2023, this journal contains research results in the field of education including: Education Science; Education Technology; Mobile Learning; Information Technology; Information System; TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) and other educational fields that have never been published.

This scientific code of ethics statement is a statement of the code of ethics of all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal including managers, editors, bestari partners, and authors. This scientific publication code of ethics statement is based on BRIN Regulation Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications. Scientific publication ethics upholds three ethical values in publications, namely (i) Neutrality, which is free from conflicts of interest in the management of publications; (ii) Fairness, which gives authorship rights to those entitled as authors; and (iii) Honesty, which is free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P) in publications.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief:

1. Determine the name of the journal, scientific scope, periodicity, and apply for accreditation if necessary.
2. Determine the membership of the editorial board.
3. Define the relationship between publishers, editors, reviewers, and other parties.
4. Respect confidential matters, both for contributing researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers.
5. Implement norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyright.
6. Conduct a review of journal policies and communicate them to authors, the editorial board, bestary partners, and readers.
7. Establish guidelines for the rules and ethics of behavior for editors and bestary partners.
8. Publish the journal regularly.
9. Ensure the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publishing.
10. Build a network of cooperation with research institutions and related agencies
11. Improving the quality of the journal
12. Preparing licenses and other legal aspects.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor

1. Meet the needs of readers and authors.
2. Implement a process to ensure the quality of published papers.
3. Promoting freedom of opinion objectively.
4. Maintaining the integrity of the author's academic track record.
5. Provide corrections, clarifications, and apologies when necessary.
6. Responsible for the style and format of writing scientific papers, while the content and all statements in the paper are the responsibility of the author.
7. Actively solicit the opinions of authors, readers, bestarial partners, and members of the editorial board to improve the quality of publications.
8. Conduct regular internal evaluations of the quality of scientific journals.
9. Support author initiatives on publication ethics by including a clearance form in each manuscript submission.
10. Be open-minded to new opinions or views of others that may conflict with personal opinions for the advancement of science.
11. Encourage authors to make improvements to the paper until it is suitable for publication.
12. Assist the editor-in-chief in finalizing the collection of manuscripts before printing and publication, especially in language, format and layout.

Duties and Responsibilities of Bestary Partners

1. Reviewing papers and submitting the results of the review to the editor, as a material for determining the eligibility of a paper for publication.
2. The paper is reviewed in a timely manner according to the publication's style based on scientific principles (data collection methods, author legality, conclusions, etc.) that have been determined.
3. Provide positive feedback and recommendations on manuscripts of scientific papers.
4. Maintain the privacy of the author by not disseminating the results of corrections, suggestions, and recommendations on a manuscript.
5. Encourage the author to make improvements to the paper.
6. Review the corrected paper in accordance with predetermined standards.
7. The results of the review are presented honestly, objectively and supported by clear arguments.
8. Guarantee the principles of truth, novelty and originality, prioritize the benefits of writing for the development of science, technology and innovation, and understand the impact of writing on the development of science.

Author Duties and Responsibilities

1. Ensure that those included in the list of authors have met the criteria as authors,
2. Take collective responsibility for the work and content of the article including methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
3. Declare the origin of resources (including funding), either directly or indirectly.
4. Explain the limitations of the research.
5. Responding to comments made by the reviewers and editorial board in a professional scientific and timely manner.
6. Inform the editor in writing if the paper is to be retracted.
7. Make a statement that the paper submitted for publication is original, and has never been published anywhere and in any language, and is not in the process of submission to another publisher.
